Similarly, Romans used product images to grab customers’ attention. Chinese started product packaging to make their products more appealing. But this was just about physical selling.

The First Printing Press was amazing. They invented it in 1440. It was an idea to express your words in a paper. Johannes Gutenberg invented it to create so many books to spread knowledge. But it was not only about books, but also people started using it for marketing purposes.

The Industrial Revolution

Johann Carolus introduced the first newspaper, inventing it at an early age. During this era, newspapers were introduced, but were not easily available to everyone. No one can use it for marketing.

Between 1800 and 1920, the primary focus of businesses was to sell more. They prioritized quantity over quality and sold their products door-to-door. Inexpensive products were accessible to buyers through selling agents.After the newspaper, people start thinking about the usage of newspapers, such as posting ads, hiring talents, and promoting services. 

The Sales Promotion Era (1920s-1940s)

After introductions of newspaper advertising, competition among businesses increased, and the trend of selling door to door started.People start promoting their products with a strong determination. In this way, they start the concept of door-to-door marketing and provide delivery services.

These days, radio broadcasts have also become famous. People also find other ways to promote their products and services. This was a golden opportunity for everyone, but it was accessible for everyone.

The Marketing Era (After – 1940)

After the radio, people start investing in Television ads. It was a great idea to present your idea and to promote your products and services in front of millions of people. The first televisions were black and white.

But despite this, they captured the hearts of people and became a great medium for marketing. People start learning different things, learning about different cultures, and even getting more ideas to sell their products and services in other areas.

The History of the Internet

History shows that it originated from ARPANET in 1960. The first message was transmitted in 1969 in the US after a great hard work.

 This makes marketing easier. They worked on the betterment of the Internet, and in 1990 there was introduced WWW.

The history of email marketing is very interesting. The first person who sent the email was Ray Tomlinson, and later on it became famous. Email marketing was a revolution in the world of marketing. 

It provided a way to directly share private information with clients, something that television could not offer. In the early days, people used it for communication with their relatives. In 1994, it became more advanced when webmail was introduced.

The targeted email list is a mailing list that was used for sending bulk emails. It became possible after the invention of the SMTP Server. People start sending transactional as well as marketing emails to their clients.

At an early age, most people create their mailing lists. There was only the concept of sending a few emails to their clients. Later, they thought to send bulk emails at once. With this demand, a new service was introduced, and that was Lead Generation.

The Investment to Buy email lists

Creating an email list was not an easy concept. People start buying ready-made leads from lead generation experts. This makes their work easy, and they don’t need to work on targeted email leads. Some people use this opportunity to grow their business.

To stop the process of using bulk emails for spam, there was a policy introduced, and that is called the  CAN-SPAM Act. According to this, you can send bulk emails through a legal process. Don’t use leads for spammy activities. 

Marketing through Social Media

Facebook, the remarkable invention of Mark Zuckerberg, quickly became a powerful platform for business marketing. Businesses are now investing in social media for their brand promotion globally.

With Facebook, people use some more social media platforms and forums. As marketing channels are increasing day by day, new challenges are also emerging alongside them. This is primarily due to the growing competition
